Talk to Heal - Session 2: Learn about Alpha-1 deficiency at the Paediatric Hospital of Coimbra

The Hepaturix Association in Portugal is currently developing a new project and is organising several events as part of this in 2025. In addition to the Hepaturix Association, the Paediatric Hospital of Coimbra and members of our ERN RARE-LIVER Youth Panel are involved as well.

The “Talk to Heal” project aims to address various topics related to managing specific pathologies, fostering communication between patients of different ages and experiences. The project includes sessions of approximately 2 hours, with a coffee break and opportunities for socialising. These sessions include contributions from healthcare professionals, patient testimonies and Q&A discussions.

The second session of the Talk to Heal project will take place on 24 May 2025 at 10 am. The focus of this session will be Alpha-1 Antitrypsin Deficiency (Alpha-1). Participants will explore how Alpha-1 impacts everyday life, with special attention to early diagnosis, treatment options, and the importance of lifestyle adjustments. The first Talk to Heal session took place in February 2025 and welcomed nearly 20 participants who discussed Autoimmune Hepatitis (AIH) in an open and supportive setting.
