Marcial Sebode, Universitätsklinikum Hamburg-Eppendorf, Germany
Chairs:
Ansgar W. Lohse, Universitätsklinikum Hamburg-Eppendorf, Germany
Marco Carbone, Università degli Studi di Milano-Bicoccaa, Milan, Italy
Agenda:
An international Delphi survey has recently ended. This process has been supported by ERN-RARE LIVER, IAIHG and GLOBAL PBC Study Group. Around 80-90 panelists have taken part and consensus on main topics (definition, diagnosis, histology, prognosis, treatment approach) has been reached. The rationale for a webinar is to disseminate the results to the wider community.
Areas that have been covered within the Delphi:
- Definition
- Suspicion
- Diagnosis
- Histological aspects
- Prognosis –Treatment
Short bios:
Alessio Gerussi, Azienda Sanitaria Socio Assistenziale (ASST)-Monza, Ospedale San Gerardo, Co-lead PBC working Group. Assistant Professor in Gastroenterology at University of Milano-Bicocca and Honorary Academic Consultant in Gastroenterology and Hepatology at Fondazione IRCCS San Gerardo dei Tintori in Monza. Research interest resides in autoimmune liver diseases, with a specific focus on 1) immunogenetics 2) multimodal data integration and AI applications to the field 3) computational pathology 4) patient-reported outcomes.
PD Dr. Marcial Sebode, PhD, is a hepatologist consultant at the University Medical Centre Hamburg-Eppendorf. His clinical and scientific focus lies in autoimmune liver disease. He is deputy coordinator of the European Reference Network on hepatological diseases (ERN RARE-LIVER), adult lead of the AIH working group of ERN RARE-LIVER and co-secretary of the International Autoimmune Hepatitis Group (IAIHG).
Prof. Dr. med. Ansgar W. Lohse is a renowned internist, hepatologist, and infectiologist, currently serving as Director of the I. Department of Medicine at the University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf (UKE). With medical training from Göttingen, London, and Harvard, and a research background that includes a postdoctoral fellowship at the Weizmann Institute in Israel, Prof. Lohse is an internationally recognized expert in autoimmune liver diseases and clinical research. He is a fellow of the American Association for the Study of the Liver and a member of multiple prestigious research bodies, including the German Research Foundation Senate, the International PSC Study Group and the Academy of Sciences and Humanities in Hamburg. He has led major European initiatives such as the ERN RARE-LIVER network and held editorial and advisory roles across key international hepatology platforms. His prolific scientific output includes high-impact publications on autoimmune hepatitis, COVID-19, and liver immunology.
Professor Carbone (MD, PhD) is an Associate Professor of Hepatology at the University of Milano-Bicocca and Honorary Consultant Hepatologist at the Niguarda Liver Transplant Centre, Milan. His research interest mainly relates to study disease mechanisms in autoimmune and cholestatic liver diseases. He runs a research programme in autoimmune and cholestatic liver diseases that encompasses joint modelling of molecular, histological and radiological data, and their conversion into meaningful outputs that can inform mechanistic understanding, health care decisions, and the design of innovative clinical trials.
