Short bios

Erica Villa is a gastroenterologist and hepatologist with longstanding expertise in cirrhosis, portal hypertension, coagulation disorders, portal vein thrombosis, and hepatocellular carcinoma. Her research focuses on translational and clinical studies aimed at improving risk stratification, biomarker-based prediction, and management of patients with chronic liver disease. She has led prospective cohort studies, contributed to international collaborations, and played an active role in guideline development and scientific societies. Her work bridges hemostasis, inflammation, vascular liver disease, and liver cancer, with particular interest in the mechanisms and clinical impact of decompensation, thrombosis, and cancer progression across diverse etiologies and clinical settings.

Salvatore Fasano 

Aurélie Plessier is a hepatologist at Beaujon Hospital (AP-HP), Clichy, France, and coordinator of the French Reference Centre for Vascular Liver Diseases and the FILFOIE Rare Liver Disease Network. Her work focuses on vascular liver diseases and portal hypertension She works closely with patient associations and has recently been involved in European research through the LIVES project on patient-reported outcomes (PROs). She contributes to international guidelines, including EASL and Baveno consensus recommendations.
