About the Working Group
The Primary Sclerosing Cholangitis (PSC) Working Group brings together adult hepatologists, paediatric hepatologists, researchers, patient representatives and other specialists with expertise in PSC and PSC-associated inflammatory bowel disease.
Primary sclerosing cholangitis is a rare, chronic cholestatic liver disease that causes inflammation and scarring of the bile ducts. It is often associated with inflammatory bowel disease and can lead to recurrent cholangitis, biliary strictures, cirrhosis, portal hypertension, liver transplantation and an increased risk of hepatobiliary and colorectal cancers.
The Working Group aims to improve diagnosis, surveillance, registry development, patient information, quality of life, patient pathways, transition care, education and collaboration across ERN RARE-LIVER centres.
Get Involved
Clinicians, researchers, paediatric specialists, nurses, patient representatives and patient organisations interested in Primary Sclerosing Cholangitis are welcome to become involved in the Working Group.
The group works on patient pathways, PSC-IBD registry development, acute cholangitis, diet and PSC, patient information, question prompt lists, education and collaborative research to improve care for people living with PSC.
