About the Working Group

The Autoimmune Hepatitis (AIH) Working Group brings together adult hepatologists, paediatric hepatologists, researchers, junior professionals and patient representatives with expertise in autoimmune hepatitis and autoimmune liver disease.

Autoimmune hepatitis is a rare chronic autoimmune liver disease in which the immune system mistakenly attacks liver cells, causing inflammation and liver damage. It can affect both children and adults and may present with mild symptoms, chronic liver disease, cirrhosis, or, in rare cases, acute severe hepatitis or acute liver failure.

The Working Group aims to improve diagnosis, treatment, patient information, research collaboration, registry development, patient pathways and education across ERN RARE-LIVER centres.

Get Involved

Clinicians, researchers, junior professionals, paediatric specialists, patient representatives and patient organisations interested in autoimmune hepatitis are welcome to become involved in the Working Group.

The group works on clinical guidance, patient pathways, registry projects, paediatric autoimmune liver disease, patient information, education and collaborative research across ERN RARE-LIVER centres.
