About the Working Group
The Alveolar Echinococcosis Working Group brings together clinicians, surgeons, infectious disease specialists, researchers and patient representatives with expertise in hepatic alveolar echinococcosis.
Alveolar echinococcosis is a rare parasitic disease caused by infection with the larval stage of Echinococcus multilocularis. It primarily affects the liver and can behave in a tumour-like, infiltrative way, involving bile ducts, blood vessels and, in advanced cases, other organs.
The Working Group aims to improve diagnosis, treatment, follow-up, patient information, research collaboration, registry development and expert care for people with alveolar echinococcosis across Europe.
Get Involved
Clinicians, surgeons, infectious disease specialists, radiologists, researchers, patient representatives and patient organisations interested in alveolar echinococcosis are welcome to become involved in the Working Group.
The group works on expert guidance, registry development, multicentre research, patient information, education and improved care for people with hepatic alveolar echinococcosis.
