Centre information
ERN Warsaw Centre is attached to Liver and Internal Medicine Unit, Medical University Hospital “Banacha”, Warsaw, Poland. Our hospital is a part of the largest medical institution in Poland. It is well equipped and provides a specialist care in all major area of contemporary medicine.
Liver and Internal Medicine Unit is a 42 beds department focusing on liver transplant assessment and post-transplant care. It provides hepatology services for the largest liver transplant program in Poland, performing, on average, 150 liver transplants per year (around 2.300 in total). We have a busy out-patients clinic, doing annually around 6.000 consults. Number of patients with autoimmune hepatitis (AIH), primary biliary cholangitis (PBC) and primary sclerosing cholangitis (PSC) who receive their specialist care at our ERN centre exceeded recently 1.500. We remain active in terms of research being also involved in international basic science and clinical projects.
