Centre information

The University Medical Centre Hamburg-Eppendorf (UKE), Hamburg, Germany, is one of Europe´s most modern hospitals and has specialists from all fields of medicine. More than 300 different specialty outpatient clinics and more than 1500 inpatient beds provide state-of-the-art patient care and we conduct clinical and basic research. The Martin Zeitz Centre for rare diseases coordinates care for patients with rare diseases. The liver services comprise paediatric and adult specialist care for all liver diseases including liver transplantation. The UKE is one of the largest paediatric transplant units in the world, and has a leading role in liver transplantation for inherited metabolic disorders.

The YAEL outpatient clinic for autoimmune liver diseases is one of the largest outpatient clinics for patients with autoimmune liver diseases in the world. Liver tumors, rare and common, are another main focus of the Hamburg liver centre, as are complications of portal hypertension including vascular liver diseases, polycystic diseases and metabolic liver diseases.

The coordination office of ERN RARE LIVER is led by Prof. Ansgar W. Lohse and is located in the University Medical Centre Hamburg-Eppendorf.
