Particular rare liver disease expertise of the centre

The department of Gastroenterology and Hepatology holds a strong interest in the diagnosis and therapy of rare and hereditary liver diseases. It has initiated and coordinated patient-related research into liver diseases, in particular hereditary polycystic liver disease as well as autoimmune hepatitis. The knowledge that is gained serves to better to inform patients and physicians as well as to improve the quality of life of patients. The centre participates in the board of the Dutch Association for Hepatology and in national (HepNed) and international (ERN Rare Liver) research networks
