What can the ERN do for patients?
Your doctor remains your single point of contact if you are referred to an ERN centre and each country has specific rules and arrangements for the referral of patient cases to other specialists. Practically speaking, we can provide you with information on your disease or that of your child, help you find a specialist centre, and give you disease specific information. We hope you find our website interesting and informative.
Latest press release: Acute liver inflammation (hepatitis) of unknown origin in children: an update by the European Reference Network ERN RARE-LIVER
Unexplained cases of acute liver inflammation in children, especially in the United Kingdom (UK) were reported earlier this year. In response, the European Reference Network on Hepatological Diseases (ERN RARE-LIVER) conducted a thorough investigation that did not confirm the alarming observation from the UK in other European countries. However, an infectious cause remains the main suspected culprit in this condition. The most recent data suggest a co-infection of adenovirus with an adeno associated virus.
