Centre information
The rare gastroenterological and hepatological diseases center, within Digestive Disease Center at the Agostino Gemelli IRCCS University Polyclinic Foundation in Rome, is a reference center for the Lazio Region of about 20 rare diseases. We have two dedicated wards for gastrointestinal disorders, for children and for adults, with specialised personnel trained for these disorders and with a team who is also involved in clinical research, who has been actively involved in developing and updating standards of care. For rare liver diseases, the activities range from diagnosis to clinical care and treatment according to the recent international standards of care, with inpatient and outpatient facilities dedicated and specialised in gastrointestinal disorders for both children and adults. The fundamental objective in the correct management of these patients is to be able to place the patient at the center of a multidisciplinary team whose task is to outline a specific therapeutic diagnostic path individualized for each individual patient, and which responds to the needs of each individual.
