Centre information
Biodonostia Health Research Institute (BHRI) is an Internationally-renowned (ISCIII accredited) Biomedical Research Institute located in Donostia-San Sebastian (Spain). It was created with the aim to provide a stable structure for scientific research of excellence at the Donostia University Hospital (San Sebastian, Spain) and add strategic value to the hospital for innovation in biosciences. The size, multidisciplinary and collaborative nature of this Institute provide an ideal environment to undertake this type of research. Biodonostia is fully-equipped and contains more than 300 people, with over 150 international scientists and more than 100 research support and ancillary staff. The BHRI is integrated into the structure of the Donostia University Hospital, University of the Basque Country (UPV-EHU) and the Technological Park of San Sebastian (Miramon), providing a decentralized structure of high-tech platforms that are available as internal services for all the participating centers. This structure enables accessibility to high-tech instrumentation in different fields of research and direct contact with patients to increase translational research.
